This is an important achievement for civil society, which will support the continued struggle to protect the environment and to redress the burden of environmental damage on vulnerable groups. The panellists will discuss what actions are necessary to make this new right an effective tool for human rights and environmental defenders as they face escalating threats and violent attacks in many countries.
